David Mitchell is the acclaimed British author of Cloud Atlas , A Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet , Black Swan Green , Number9Dream and Ghostwritten . Mitchell was born in Merseyside, England on January 12, 1969 and grew up in Worcestershire, England. He attended the University of Kent where he studied American and English literature and ultimately obtained an M.A. in Comparitive Literature.
Mitchell has lived all over the world, including Sicily and Hiroshima, Japan where he taught English for eight years. He currently lives in Ireland with his wife Keiko and their two children.
