The Hotel Manager is a minor character who helps Robert Frobisher hide from the authorities by claiming that the third floor of the hotel is unoccupied, when in fact Frobisher is staying there. For this subterfuge he demands payment; when Frobisher says he has almost no money, the manager takes as payment his waistcoat, given to him as a gift by Rufus Sixsmith. When Sixsmith shows up looking for Frobisher, the waistcoat on the manager tells him he must be in the right place.
